Look in the mirror and there it is! You already have your best body!

Okay, I know you HATED that and you might want to punch me through the screen. I know, it was a mean trick.

But honestly, I want you to think to yourselves what your “best body” looks like. Really think about what that means to you.

Now think about the times you have tried to achieve those goals. How did it go?

Maybe you did achieve those goals and then “fell off the wagon” later. 

Maybe you’ve never gotten there and feel like a failure.

I’m here to tell you that even if you were to reach those body goals, the goal post keeps moving further and further away. Once you lose x amount of pounds, it’s not good enough. It’s not satisfying. Or you get that 6-pack and you’re like cool, what now?

I promise you that having your “best body” won’t make you any happier. You know why? Because achieving this goal will overtake your life and will most likely not be reached in a healthy fashion.

The people you see on tv, in magazines, and even social media influencers spend the vast majority of their time working out, eating very specific meals at specific times of day, and do all. the. wellness. things. And to top it all off, many of them have eating disorders that NO ONE knows about.

But health and wellbeing is not just about your body and looking good. Although that’s what we are sold. So it’s perfectly understandable to be brainwashed into thinking that if you just lost x amount of pounds, got that 6-pack, or lost those love handles, that you would be so much happier. We are feed this narrative 23425087 times a day.

I also don’t want to ignore the fact that people in larger bodies experience fat phobia on a daily basis, so the desire to be thin isn’t only about looking good, it’s about avoiding the stigma and discrimination.

I want to empower you to think about health in a different way. Think about health as your whole life, a.k.a. holistically, with the physical body being one small piece of the whole puzzle.

So what can you focus on instead?

  • Drinking more water
  • More belly laughs
  • More time spent creating
  • Building and maintaining relationships
  • Eating more fiber
  • Finding joyful ways to move your body
  • Getting outside more often
  • Starting a meditation practice
  • Spending more time on your passions

Guaranteed these will be far more fulfilling than reaching your “best body” in 2021.

You are a WHOLE human fucking being. You are more than a body.
